Log houses Kuuharju
Cosy log cabines with own kitchen, Cheminée, 2
WC and sauna, comfortable for 2 – 4 persons, car parking. The cabins are
situated straight beside a small idyllic lake, a little skiing resort with
skijumping tower, downhill slopes and the trailhead for many km crosscountry
skiing, snowmobile, mountain bike, jogging, hiking and much more. The
village is a very short time reachable from the cabins. The first shopping
possibilites are found after about 800 m. The Hotel Herkko is in about 1200
m distance from the cabins.
Weekly Activity Program
(Starting point of the tours are always in the Hotel Herkko Taivalkoski)
Monday: 10.00 Transfer to the Finn-Jann husky farm. After arrival on the farm information about the coming day and getting to know the lovely sled dogs. After a short driving instruction start to the husky tour. 2 clients drive one dog team; they can change the turn during the tour. After return to the huskyfarm lunch in wooden kota. Driving distance about 15 – 25 km. Transfer back to the hotel. Duration of the excursion about 5 – 6 hours. (135 €/person)
Tuesday: 10.00 dressing and preparing for the snowmobilesafari. The guide introduce the drivingtechnics before starting to the about 40 – 50 km long tour. 2 clients drive one snowmobile. During many stops possibility for changing driver… After a lunch on the openfire with soup, sandwich and coffee return back home to the hotel, where is waiting a hot drink! Duration of the excursion about 4 – 5 hours (120 €/person).
Wednesday: 10.00 h Transfer to the reindeerfarm. We get to know a lot about the reindeer husbandry. About grooming and growing the animals as well as about the reindeer farmer’s life. In the end the farmers family offers us a small snack. Transfer back to the Hotel Herkko. Duration of the tour approx. 2 - 3 hours. Transfer back to the hotel. (40 €/person)
Thursday: Morning for free using. Possibility to book additional activities, relax or explore the village Taivalkoski. At 14.00 we meet for the short snowshoehike in the close and beautiful surroundings of the hill Taivalvaara. Duration about 2 – 3 hours (€ 40/person). Sauna and Swimming. Dinner.
Friday: 10.00 dressing and preparing for the Crosscountry Skiing Tour. If the conditions allow we explore the close surroundings of Taivalkoski as well off the prepared skiing tracks. During the tour we enjoy a lunch on an open fire. Enjoy the silence of Taivalvaara! Duration of the excursion about 4 hours (55 €/person).
Saturday: Day for free using. Possibility to book additional activities, relax or explore the village Taivalkoski. In the evening last evening dinner around an open fire (salmon on the board) in the kota close to the Hotel Herkko. (€ 35/person)
