Husky ABC Sweden - Husky week for Beginners

Learn to lead huskies like a real Musher! Accompanied by our experienced guides you will ride with your huskies through the Swedish winter fairytale landscape. To drive dog sledge seems at first quite challenging. It is and it is not. By learning when and what to do, even someone who never worked with dogs can learn the joy of mushing. It will be a pleasure of our experienced mushers to assist you and you will learn to ride a sledge together with the dogs in a few days. A relaxing day with icehole fishing and a visit in the famous icehotel in Jukkasjärvi will complement your adventurous week in Lapland!

Program
1^st day: Arrival to Snowtrail Lodge. Airport transfer from Kiruna or Gällivare to our lodge in Moskojärvi. Welcome and information together with the hosts.

2^nd day: Husky Training day. After a thorough introduction into the world of mushing we will start by practical exercises how to care of the lovely animals, how to put on the harness and to drive the teams. Finally off we go on our first exciting husky ride through the beautiful snowy winter landscape!

Later we have time the explore the surroundings by snowshoes. Maybe follow the tracks of our wild animals – moose and reindeers are always close around. Or just relax in the cosy warmth of a real Swedish sauna.

3^rd day: Huskytour. Now your are already familiar with your friends the sledgedogs and you can fully enjoy the ride on a ca. 20 km long tour. Pure wintery silence – only the sound of the gliding sleigh and snorting dogs.

4^th day: Icehole fishing. A day to relax by icehole fishing. We sit on cosy reindeer skins warmed by a campfire and enjoy the freshly brewed coffee.

5^th day: Huskytour. A long Huskytour of ca. 30 km will lead us over wide moors and through snowy forests – a winter wonderland, a fairytale world.

6^th day: Icehotel visit. Today we visit the famous icehotel in Jukkasjärvi. A marvelous construction of ice and snow you will never come to forget. (Entrance fee icehotel extra 295 SEK)

7^th day: Huskytour. Comfortable now with dogs and sledge you are prepared to master the demanding tour to the Avvakko range. Over hills and through beautiful valleys we make our way up to a magnificient view over snowy Lappland. After this it will be really difficult for you to take farewell of your husky friends!

8^th day: Transfer to the airport.

For those that feel a little bit more adventurous there is the option to spend a night out in the wilderness where – with a little bit of luck – you can fall asleep under a sky filled with polar lights.
