Here are some clues:
By plane
Both Helsinki/Finnland and Stockholm/Sweden are destination for a lot of central
European airlines. From these capitals you can get connecting local flights.
When participating in our tours in Finland, the you fly either to Kuusamo (trekking tours, husky programs, talvivaara's winterfun) or to Oulu (Finland from West to East). When participating in our programs in Sweden, you fly to Kiruna. To meet our guide in Estonia (orchid island trip), you simply fly to the capital Tallinn.
By ferry/car
There are different possibilities to travel from Central Europe to Finland
by car. The most comfortable and probably also the fastest is by car ferry
– Superfast, Siljalines or Vikinglines go from northern Germany directly
to southern Finland (for example the rountes Rostock/Travemunde - Hanko).
The same ferry often stops also in Tallinn/Estonia. A further possibility
is the overland route from Germany via Denmark-Sweden to Finland. Many car
ferries also cross from Sweden’s east coast to Finland’s west
coast. To travel to Sweden, you can drive from Central Europe through
Denmark and over the Oresund Bridge (there is a fee).
By train/bus
In Finland, there is only one railway line from Helsinki to Lapland,
from Helsinki via Oulu to Rovaniemi where it ends. Destinations as Taivalkoski
and Kuusamo can be reached by a combination of train and bus.
The situation is similar in Sweden with only one railway going from Stockholm to Lapland, from Stockholm via Kiruna to Abisko. The train continues to Narvik in Norway.
